Term 2 Events

Welcome back to Term 2. There is much to look forward to during Term 2 with Sport, Performing Arts Plays, Music Concerts and Galway Interschool cultural events as some co-curricular activities in which students can engage.  There is much creative work being done in English, Humanities and Science classes. The Secondary EngGirls did some exciting activities with Primary students and the feedback was positive.

ANZAC Service

On Tuesday our ANZAC Service was ably led by some of our Student Leaders. Students also had the opportunity to share some writings from people who were impacted by war.  The usual observances of the Last Post, One minute’s silence, Laying of a wreath and Reveille were part of the ceremony ably supported by the catafalque unit from Broadmeadows, a Piper from the Police Band and a Bugler from the Salvation Army and students reading Binyon’s Ode.

BINYON’S ODE

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning

We will remember them.

20 Years of Aitken College

On Monday 14 May at the four Assemblies, we will have a celebration for students of 20 years of Aitken College.  The first students in 1999 moved out to the current site on 15 May with much anticipation and excitement. It will be exciting to show the students how things have changed since those early days with a photostory and in the sharing of a celebratory cake.  We also hope to take a whole school photo on that day, weather permitting.
