Emails from the College

We regularly communicate with families via email. If you are not receiving regular emails from the College (and not just the Sneak Peek), the first step is to check your 'Junk Mail' to ensure your email filter is not placing them in junk. If you still have no emails from us, please call the College so we help rectify the issue.

Welcome to the TCC Wellbeing Team

This year we are pleased to welcome Amanda France to our TCC Wellbeing Team. Amanda is currently studying a Masters of Counselling and is excited about getting to know our students and families.

We recognise, we play a vital role in promoting the social and emotional development and wellbeing of students. Student resilience and wellbeing are essential for both academic and social development. Not only do confident and resilient children perform better academically, these skills can also contribute to their ability to maintain healthy relationships and responsible lifestyles.

Our goal is to contribute to your child’s personal strengths and wellbeing through positive encounters.

We are here to support you, so feel free to contact either Marg Saunders or Amanda France if you have any questions.

We welcome Amanda France to the Wellbeing Team

Wisdom from the Wellbeing Team

During Term 1 Secondary students are being reminded to use their manners. In assembly they watched a video where Mrs Johnson and Kenadee from Year 3 (our resident manners experts) were talking about manners.

The students were reminded that manners are not about them but how they make the other person feel. Kenadee shared that when she was the recipient of someone else’s good manners it warmed her heart. She had a very strong message for our Secondary students ‘to remember to use your manners’!

We talked about the BIG 4, PLEASE , THANK YOU, EXCUSE ME AND NO SWEARING

Lego Club and Thank you to Taree PCYC

We would like to send a huge thank you to Taree PCYC for gifting us with this amazing Lego collection. Uncle Mick and Mrs Tindall will put this gift to good use in the ISC and classrooms.

Primary students should have a chat to Mrs Tindall if they would like to join Lego Club.

Mr Reed, Mr Coleman and Uncle Mick receive this great gift from Taree PCYC

College Photos

Earlier this week your child should have brought home a photo order envelope. Please ensure these are returned to the College by Friday 28th February.

Volunteer Needed - Bus Driver

We have lots of adventures, including camps and excursions coming up and would love to have an additional bus driver to assist us on occasion. If you have a LR or MR licence, as well as a current Working With Children number, our Business Manager Andrew Kent would love to speak with you about this opportunity. Please contact the College.

School Banking starts next Tuesday

All the Commonwealth banking information has just arrived, so School Banking will commence next Tuesday 17th February. Our lovely volunteer Mrs Andrew will be out on the Primary veranda next Tuesday morning before school. Students may come and bank, or if they have never done banking before please head in and see Mrs Andrew for more information and learn all about the Dollarmites.

A message from Mr Andrew Kent (Business Manager)

We are very fortunate to have a Canteen Store on premises and it is run on limited staffing by our capable manager Simone. We are always looking for committed volunteers to help. In 2020 we are transitioning out of cash in the College. Handling cash is a WHS concern for my staff who need to go to the bank. Not only is it a safety issue, it is inefficient and costly to deposit.

Here is a summary of the changes:

PRIMARY STUDENTS

RECESS:

Primary students can still use cash to purchase items over the counter, we do not have an option for orders to be made up for recess service. Recess is over the counter items only, so no changes to recess procedures at all.

LUNCH:

ALL lunch orders are to be put through the Flexischools website or app (flexischools.com.au or download the app) primary students are still able to purchase over the counter using cash, as always. The only change is as of 1 March 2020 we will no longer accept ‘old style’ lunch order bags.

Some benefits of using Flexischools for lunch orders are:

  • No more students forgetting to place their lunch order
  • No more lost money
  • The ability for orders to be placed by families days ahead of time for their convenience
  • The menu is always up to date
  • There are price discounts for ordering by Flexischools

SECONDARY STUDENTS

Secondary students are to use their student ID card which they link to their Flexischools account to make over the counter purchases. All lunch orders are to be put through the Flexischools website or app (flexischools.com.au or download the app). The only change is ALL orders are to be through the app and the use of their card instead of using cash.

How to set up a Flexischools account:

  1. Go to Flexischools.com.au or download the app
  2. Register
  3. Link the student ID number (high school only, this number is found on their student ID card)
  4. Load the dollar amount you choose
  5. Set an automatic ‘top up’ amount, If you want control
  6. Set a ‘daily limit’ spend (Secondary  only)

Some of the benefits for Secondary students using a card are:

  • Students already carry their student ID card with them for use in the ISC so they are not carrying any additional cards as they would if we had regular EFTPOS
  • Our society is becoming more and more cashless, we encourage our students to learn the benefits of cashless while you (the adult in their life) are able to monitor what they spend
  • You are able to load a dollar amount and then set a daily spend limit so they cannot spend more than you wish
  • No more lost money
  • If their card is lost in the street it will not work in any other school, so their money is safe

If you have any questions, as always please call us at the College on 6539 0100 or for help with flexischools 1300 361 769.
