Welcome

 

Welcome to the 2020 school year! We hope you all had a very Merry Christmas and a relaxing break with family and friends. We wish you all the best for a wonderful School Year. 

My name is  Dale Cain and I am the REC this year, as Mrs Scully is on Maternity Leave. I am also an Assistant Principal here at St Mary’s. I look forward to meeting you and working with you all to develop a deep understanding in your children of what it means to be Catholic, knowing that God has made each of us and wants us to love Him.

Catholic Principles and Values

Staff have begun the year reviewing the Catholic Principles and Values that we will explicitly teach the children across all key learning areas.  These provide a framework within which we can operate as Catholics who believe in God and want to fulfill His wishes for us.  God is at the heart of all of these.

The Principles are:- 

 

The children will learn how they can apply a range of subject knowledge to real life situations, reflecting the teachings of these Principles.

Opening School Mass

The St Mary’s Opening School Mass will be on Wednesday, 12th February at 12.30pm. During Mass the new Year 6 School Leaders will be blessed and will receive their school badges. We welcome all parents and guardians to this special Mass.

Season of Lent

This Year the Easter break falls at the end of the Term. Our season of Lent will begin in week 5 with Shrove Tuesday being 25th February. Our School will attend an Ash Wednesday Mass on  26th February at 12.30pm. More information regarding pancakes and Mass will be provided closer to this date.

Mini Vinnies

Mini Vinnies empowers primary school students to become advocates within their school and the local community by putting their values into action.  They meet regularly to learn about social justice issues, develop leadership skills and engage with the wider St Vincent de Paul Society” (St Vincent De Paul Society).

Mini Vinnies will continue again this year for any student in Years 4-6. We will meet on Friday Lunch time in the Stage 1 corridor,  starting in Week 4 - 21st February.

Sacrament Dates 2020

A new school year brings new opportunities for students to be enriched in their faith journey. More information regarding the Sacrament dates,  classes and enrolment sessions will be provided shortly. If there are any older students who have not received a Sacrament in the appropriate year level and would like to, could you please send the office an email attention Mrs Cain (admin@stmarysarmidale.catholic.edu.au). Any student wishing to be Baptised will need to contact the Parish Office.

Altar Servers

Any students who have been Altar Serving for the Parish and would like to serve at School Masses, could you please let Mrs Cain know as soon as possible.

Family Masses

This Year Family Masses will be celebrated once during the School Term. Please save the following dates in your calendar  and more information will be provided closer to the day. The first Family Mass will be on Sunday 1st March at 10am. We will need assistance with set up and/or pack up, and provision of a plate to share.  Could you please email me (admin@stmarysarmidale.catholic.edu.au) and let me know how you can help.
