Classroom News - Year 3

Welcome to Year 3!

Year 3 have had a fantastic start to our 2020 school year. We would like to welcome returning students and those who are new to St. Mary's. Miss Outridge is teaching 3O and Mrs Croft (Mon-Wed) and Miss Limen (Thurs-Friday) in 3C.

The children have settled in well. In Year 3, we have been busy learning about our classroom procedures and have established classroom expectations and rules with students each having an opportunity to have their own input as to what makes a safe and quality learning environment. This year we are using Class Dojo's for our reward systems, this has encouraged many students to approach their learning with great enthusiasm and care.

Important Days to remember

Students are reminded to wear their yellow sports shirts on Wednesdays, and their coloured house shirts on Fridays.

Our Library Day is on Wednesdays. Mrs Gollan has some amazing books stocked in our library. We encourage students to bring their library bags and borrow books to bring into our classroom and to take home to read.

Reminder that this Friday is our School Swimming Carnival. Students are reminded to bring their swimming notes by Thursday.

Class Buddies

Yesterday, 3C met up with our class buddies in 2F. Students were excited to meet up with their buddy and got to know them by interviewing them in the afternoon. Throughout the year, students will be engaging with their buddies in various school activities; particularly Whole school Mass. This is a great opportunity for Year 3 to be role models and to demonstrate some leadership.

3O met with 5L earlier this week as they will be our buddy class for the year. Students had the opportunity to get to know some of the older students of our school by engaging in different small group discussions.  We will continue to send time with our buddy class throughout the year and at school events.

Parent Information Night and Welcome BBQ

Next Tuesday will be Parent information night. This is a great opportunity for parents to gain some insight into our classrooms, and to ask some questions. Next Thursday is also our Welcome BBQ. We hope to see you all there.
