PE

Physical Education and Sport

Welcome to 2022!

After three great years in the classroom, I am loving being back in PE and getting to know all the students across the school.

At Rolling Hills, students participate in Physical Education classes for one hour per week, for the whole year. Students are encouraged to wear runners on their PE day and make sure they have a drink bottle and hat to bring with them. If your child has any injuries that impact on their participation in PE, please send me a message through Compass.

We have started the year full steam ahead, getting straight into learning and practising events for our upcoming Athletics Carnival. All students from Prep – 6 will participate in this day. They will rotate around different events, earning points for their Houses. More information will follow soon.

PMP Program

PMP is a perceptual motor program for young children. The program is designed to give our students experiences by seeing, hearing, touching and reacting through sequenced activities. These are linked to success in their learning across all aspects of the curriculum.

Our Prep students will be participating in one hour of PMP activities each week, on a Friday morning. Both classes will attend the PMP session together, with their class teachers and some Grade 5/6 helpers. Students will rotate around stations, completing different activities each week, to music.

Our main objectives are to improve gross and fine motor skills including balance, body and spatial awareness and hand-eye and foot-eye coordination. The program also develops language and memory skills. Students experience going through, over and under obstacles with a variety of sensory materials. Slides, planks, tunnels and ladders are all used as well as a selection of balancing, jumping and swinging equipment.

Keep an eye out in the next newsletter for some photos of our Prep students in action!

Interschool Sport
