Performing Arts News

Welcome back to school! 

I am so excited to be back in the Performing Arts room with a wonderful program ahead of us. 

At RHPS, students do Performing Arts for half of the year. Prep, Grade One and Grade Two will be starting off with Performing Arts in Term One and Term Two. The Performing Arts room is located next to the Canteen and the Art Room, at the end of the main building.

In Term One, we will be doing a dance unit. Students will be experimenting with different ways of moving their bodies, expressing their ideas through dance and choreographing their own sequences. Later this term, a professional dance teacher from Stomp Dance Company will be visiting the school to work with students on a hiphop dance routine for four weeks.

In Term Two, we will be doing a music unit where students will learn foundation music theory and play a range of musical instruments. 

We have had a terrific first week in Performing Arts with Grade One and Two. We discussed class expectations and began to experiment with devising some simple dance moves. Preps will have their first Performing Arts lesson next week!

Perhaps you could put your favourite music on at home and have a dance!
