P&C News!
To all White Gum Valley Parents/Carers
Our School P&C needs you for 2022!
The WGVPS Parents & Citizens Committee (P&C) is a group of volunteer parents/carers who work together to strengthen opportunities for students to learn and grow, build a community and promote the interests of our wonderful school.
We need the P&C to operate our canteen, our uniform shop, fundraise, run social events and make decisions on how to spend our funds. The P&C is vital to the school community!
As a P&C Member you get to:
- Have a say in shaping opportunities at the school
- Meet other parents/carers
- Make a tangible difference to our school!
To get involved in the P&C you can:
- Nominate for the executive - President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer
- Join a subcommittee.
- Join as a general member. For $1 you can become a P&C member with voting rights.
- Attend meetings. We have two meetings per term.
- Be class rep communicating P&C information to your child’s class via email.
- Be a fundraising ambassador for your year group
- Help out at events
- Volunteer in the canteen. The kids love seeing familiar faces in the canteen!
- Share your ideas for fundraising, events, or ways to make the school even better!
Heading into 2022, we have an entirely vacant P&C executive committee! This is a wonderful opportunity for new people with fresh ideas to get involved!

What are the different P&C Roles?
President
A vital link between the parent body and the school administration, the President is: Chairperson for the P&C Association’s meetings, ensures all office bearers fulfill their duties; the public face of the P&C handling media enquiries and all external enquiries; signatory to accounts; ex officio member of all sub-committees and manages the P&C paid employees e.g. Canteen workers.
Vice President
Alongside the main responsibility of understudy to the President, the VP is also signatory to accounts and the WACSSO Liaison.
Secretary
The secretary’s role is to manage correspondence in and out, circulate agenda and reports, manage the members list and take the meeting minutes.
Treasurer
Working with the paid bookkeeper, the treasurer manages the budget, organises payments and prepares the financial reports.
Subcommittee Convenor
Our Subcommittee Convenors lead on their committee and are responsible for providing updates to the general meetings.
Class Rep
A small but essential part of the communication chain, the Class Rep is responsible for compiling the list of parent/carer emails and circulating P&C emails as required.
Fundraising Champion
Under our whole school approach to events/fundraising, each year group has a Fundraising Champion who takes the lead on organising their year group’s fundraising event.
**** If you choose to take on a role you will be well supported by the outgoing committee and well developed P&C guidelines and frameworks. ***
Come to the AGM on Wednesday 23 Feb in the school library from 6.30pm for 7pm start
