Learning and Teaching

Digi-Tech

Well done everyone for finishing another year of school. Also, a big congratulations to all the Grade 6 students who are graduating! Despite the challenges we faced this year, I was so impressed by the persistence, dedication and positivity displayed by our students and families.

This semester, the students have explored a range of different topics and produced some fantastic work in Digi-Tech. I encourage all students to practice their Digi-Tech skills over the holidays, but also make time for exercise and relaxation too. Check out the SFS Student Portal and the Digi-Tech Google Classroom for some fun Digi-Tech games and activities.

Happy holidays and see you next year!

Sincerely,

Logan (Digital Technologies - Specialist Teacher)

ITALIAN

I wish to take on this opportunity to say a big thank you to all of the SFS Community. It has been a pleasure to teach all the SFS students over the last 11 years both originally as a Senior homegroup teacher and then as an Italian teacher.

I have been truly blessed to have been given the opportunity to be a part of such a happy, supportive and wonderful school community. I will forever hold SFS close to my heart.

Grazie e arrivederci

Specialists News

What a busy year we have had with Specialists this year. Despite all the time in remote learning we still managed to have a super fun Specialist day and walk to school day at school this year with the whole school participating in a mini Olympic games complete with flags from around the world. We kicked of 2021 with SWELL week and a Brickworks lego incursion.

The children have enjoyed the 6 specialist areas Italian, Music, Art, Digital Technology, P.E. and SWAP (Student Wellbeing and Performance). The students had lots of fun with gymnastics and football clinics at the end of the year and Cross country earlier in the year.

We finished the year with the filming of our Junior and Senior school Productions which was a huge highlight. We can’t wait to watch the finished product.

We thank all the children for their active participation in Specialists this year both remotely online and face to face at school.

GRADE 6 SPORTS AWARDS

We would like to congratulate our two Grade 6 recipients who received our sporting awards this year.

Well done to Chloe who received the School Sports Victoria Award which was in recognition of her exceptional academic and sporting achievements and to Abel who received the SFS Sports Award in recognition of his exceptional sporting achievements. Both Chloe and Abel represented SFS at District and Divisional Levels. We are very proud of their efforts and know they will be a huge asset to which ever Secondary School they attend next year.

This year we have also established perpetual shields for each of the Grade 6 awards that will remain at school as a history of the Grade 6 Award Recipients. They are currently in the cabinets in Reception.

GRADE 5 BIKE EDUCATION

Congratulations to our Grade 5s who completed their first Bike Education Course this term. They have received a certificate and bike puncture kit, which was given to the students by Performance Bicycles located on Gippsland Hwy in Lynbrook. Craig at Performance Bicycles has been a great support to us, providing bikes at a reduced cost for our program and the special gift for our Grade 5s.

We would like to encourage the students to practise the skills that they have learnt over the holidays as next year as Grade 6s the students will have five more sessions of Bike Education. Further details will be provided early next year.

JUNIOR AFL/NAB AUSKICK FOOTBALL CLINICS

This week on Monday and Tuesday our juniors had a chance to participate in AFL/NAB Auskick Football Clinics. They had a great time and we would like to thank Auskick for providing our students with this opportunity free of cost. Please see the attached flyer if you are interested in your child joining Auskick.

We would like to take this opportunity to now thank all teachers, parents and students for their support this year. We hope that next year we will be able to be involved in a variety of sporting activities especially Interschool Sports and Competitions.

We wish everyone a safe and Merry Christmas.
