Class of 2021 graduation reflections

Rohan Watts (OW2021) and Yasmin Watts, Parent

I started at Yiramalay in 2019 with Induction 37 and I remember the different places we went to and the waterholes that we went swimming in, they were amazing. I was part of the Gibb Challenge which was fun and visiting Purnululu National Park was another highlight for me. The best thing that happened while I was at Yiramalay was being selected to play football with Claremont next year.

At Yiramalay I learnt many life skills that will help me in the future. I would like to tell other students starting out at Yiramalay, to listen, it will help them learn what they will need when they leave school. I am looking forward to moving to Perth with my family to play football next year. I would like to thank Matt, Brent and all the staff for getting me through to the end.

Rohan Watts (OW2021)

Rohan has come a long way while at Yiramalay, personal development is the biggest change in him, he is respectful to others and his environment and engages with others confidently. 2021 was a turn around year for Rohan, he matured and decided that he wanted to engage in his education at school. We are looking forward to our family moving to Perth so that he can pursue a career playing football. One of the best things about the school is that it also teaches life skills to support students personal development and that is something that I see in Rohan everyday.

Thank you to the staff and especially the mentors for supporting Rohan during his time at Yiramalay, he found it was a safe space where he could share his thoughts, be heard and it would be OK.
