3/4 CG

Welcome Back to Term 3 (and a new Grade Name)!

...because we have a new classroom teacher - Miss Georgia. As Miss Ashleigh has finished with us (for the impending birth of her second child) we are excited to have Miss Georgia join us for the remainder of the year, who has returned to school following her maternity leave. I'm sure you will join us in wishing Miss Ashleigh the safe and joyful arrival of her new son or daughter.

Maths

Over the coming weeks students will be learning about area. Area is how much space there is on a flat surface. This week we began to look at the meaning of area and how to calculate the area of a shape. The students used their 1cm grid books to find the area of their names.

Literacy

In literacy this week we have had a focus on NAIDOC week. We have read many indigenous stories and discovered some new vocabulary.

Today we read the story 'The Lost Girl'. Students were asked to then research about an Australian plant or animal from the story.

The students did such a fantastic job collecting their information and presenting. Some of the things that students researched were: quandongs, acacia, eucalyptus, crow and blue tongue lizard.

NAIDOC Week

This week we celebrated NAIDOC Week. This year's theme is 'Heal Country'. Healing Country means embracing First Nation's cultural knowledge and understanding of Country as part of Australia's national heritage.
