1/2M

Welcome back to the 1/2M classroom! As always, the students were so excited to see each other and reconnect with their friends. I am looking forward to another great term of discovery and learning. 

Maths 

In Maths, we are learning about time, and this week we have focussed on naming the days of the week, the months of the year and the seasons. On Wednesday, the students created a large wall calendar for July. 

Literacy 

There was great excitement in the classroom on Monday because we had received mail from our pen pal school in New South Wales. Everyone waited so patiently for their reply letter. It was fantastic to see how engaged each student was with their letter. The highlight for the students was sharing their letters and recognising how many things they have in common with their pen pal. We have started drafting our reply letters back to our pen pal school. 

Education in Faith 

Throughout the week, we have been reading or singing Aboriginal morning prayers in response to NAIDOC Week. On Wednesday afternoon, we read the book Welcome to Country written by Joy Murphy Wandin. The book was a springboard for the students to discuss Bunjil the Creator and the similarities between Bunjil the Creator and God. As a class, we will be creating a prayer to Thank God and Bunjil the Creator for our land.
