5/6 T

Welcome back to Term 3! I hope you all had a relaxing break. As usual we have a busy term coming up in grade 5/6 and have a lot to look forward to including camp and First Communion.

WRITING

We have started the term with looking at showing not telling in our writing. This means we are challenging the students to paint a vivid picture for their reader. The students are have been working collaboratively this week in order to creatively describe a range of scenarios based on different prompts. They have also attempted some recount writing where they

have put these skills into action.

MATHS

This term we have started a unit on Time. The students are working to apply their knowledge of time to solve a range of problems. They have been measuring and calculating elapsed time,  converting between 12 and 24 hour time and creating, reading and interpreting timetables.

INQIURY

Our overarching theme is Identity and Diversity this term. We will be focusing on the History curriculum including Australian history between 1800 - 1900. This will be linked to our school camp to Sovereign Hill and will look at the Gold Rush era.

EDUCATION IN FAITH

Will be linked to our Inquiry unit of Identity and Diversity with a focus on what identifies us as Catholics, including the Sacraments of Initiation of Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation.
