Staff Professional Development
Teachers have been working diligently on two fronts during Term 1. Whole school professional development sessions have focused on mathematics and the four fluencies. From a Professional Learning Community (PLC) perspective our Instructional Leaders have embarked on an Inquiry Change focused on Writing. We continue to work throughout the year to reduce teacher variability and build teacher excellence.
From a Principal Class perspective, Rosemary has once again embarked on being a coach for other professionals in the educational field and she will again have an aspiring principal shadowing her. This program is run through Bastow, our professional learning arm.
Both Patrick and I have attended ‘Program for Students with Disabilities’ (PSD) training. The next phase will be for us to train as Department of Education and Training Nominees to support other schools through the PSD application process.
Over the school holidays we have a number of staff attending professional development sessions and conferences, all with the aim of improving our teaching and learning here at Kingswood. I would like to thank our teachers for taking time out to do this.
iPad and Chromebook Programs
For those families still interested in participating in either of the programs but who have not attended a cyber safety session, there will be one held at 9.00am on the first Friday of the term (21/4).
If you intend to come please email Aaron Cox or contact the school office.
Parenting Ideas
I am a big fan of Michael Grose and his website ParentingIdeas.com.au. To assist families with strategies on things that you can do at home I am including a wellbeing article written by Dr Jodi Richardson. The article suggests 5 practices you can put into action to enhance your child's wellbeing. These are neither new or earth shattering but they can have an impact on your childs’ wellbeing.
Please read the 2 page attachment.
Holidays
I hope all children and their families have an enjoyable holiday break. Please remain safe and we look forward to seeing you back here straight after Easter. We have a very busy 11 week term coming up with lots of learning with a focus on writing and mathematics.
