Fame Jr Update

It is less than 9 weeks until opening night of this year’s production of Fame Jr (which sounds longer than it is!). The students have been working very hard this term in the PAC, both after school and during lunchtimes to perfect vocals, acting status and dance moves. We have also had a number of meetings with students involved in the crew and started allocating roles and responsibilities.

On Wednesday 21st June and Thursday 22nd June the cast, Ms Baker-Goldsmith, Ms Peters and myself will be embarking on 2 full days of rehearsals where we will really see the show coming to life. These rehearsals will be quite intense and where we see friendships across year levels form and where we really see the students’ dedication and commitment go up a notch for the show.

We will also be showing a sneak peak of Fame Jr at the Semester 1 Music Gala Night, which is taking place on Monday 26th June at 7pm in the last week of term 2. This is also a great opportunity to see our fellow performing arts students perform and show you what they have been learning so far this year.

Fame Jr will be showing on Tuesday 15th August, Wednesday 16th August and Thursday 17th August next term. We will keep you posted with when tickets are available and thank you to all for the support so far.

Radio Club

Radio Club is a club that gives any student in the college the opportunity to run their own radio show for an hour. A few times per term (usually once a month), a group of 3-4 students meet early on a Thursday morning and make their way to 88.3 Southern FM radio station in North Brighton to present a morning breakfast radio show.

The radio show can include conversations and music, but it is up to the group to decide what they would like to present during their hour on air. After the radio show there is a debriefing at Cafe Whyte to discuss what went well and what could be improved for the next show.

Last week I attended the station and I think it was one of the best shows I have been a part of presenting. The more times you attend, the more you improve and get more comfortable with talking on air and using all of the station broadcasting equipment.

There are many benefits in participating in Radio Club. This includes improving public speaking skills and being part of a team. Speaking fluently, articulately and on your feet is a life skill that is required in all fields.

If you are interested in participating in one of our next shows, contact Ms Baker-Goldsmith or come along to our weekly meetings on Tuesdays in Room 1 (the new Music room).
