Gearing up for Your Future

A considerable amount of time this week has been devoted to preparing our boys for what lies ahead in their future career paths. What we know is that good routines, structured study times and goal setting will set our young men up for success. This message is not only directed at our Year 10s but more importantly for our Year 9s to start this approach now to better equip themselves for their future endeavours.

Australian Defence Force Recruiting Presentation

On Wednesday March 24 we had the privilege of listening to a presentation regarding the recruitment process and opportunities available for those who wish to enter the Australian Defence Force. What was made evidently clear was the need to meet certain requirements upon entry and what this means for their studies in the here and now. It provided a great message that we need to be ready and work towards what comes next. If the Defence Force is not for you then your chosen industry will ultimately have its own entry and skills requirements in which our young men need to aspire.

Work Experience

Leading on from our recruiting presentation was a focus on our Work Experience Programme which commences in Term 3. Boys who undertake VET will have a work placement provided for them as part of their VET course requirements. For those not involved in a VET course it is your responsibility to proactive and begin the process of searching/researching where you would like to go. I encourage boys to speak with Mrs Gangell or contact here on cgangell@stvirgils.tas.edu.au as we have a school database to assist boys with potential contacts.
