From the Acting Principal

Mrs Heidi Senior

This Sunday, March 28 is Palm Sunday - the day we recall Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem. It is the final Sunday of Lent and the start of Holy Week.

One significant part of the Palm Sunday story for us is that Jesus, arriving into Jerusalem as the Messiah, chose to enter not in a chariot or other elite form of transport, but on a humble donkey. This act reminds us of Jesus’ oneness with all people, a servant seeking peace rather than a Lord seeking dominance and power. This is an important message for us in our own lives, reminding us to strive to live humbly and in service of others. We must seek ways to listen respectfully rather than blindly force our own ideas and opinions over others.

Open Day

Yesterday we welcomed a large number of visitors to our Junior Campus for Open Day. Lots of smiling faces braved the rain to come and see the kindergarten and primary students and their teachers in action. Our amazing new Kinder was very popular, with a number of prospective new students very taken with the awesome digger in the Kinder play space! A special thanks to the Grade 6 students who lead tours, proffered umbrellas and answered questions with spirit and kindness.

New Principal Community Consultation

This week we also welcome Mr Diarmuid O’Riordan the Southern Regional Director of EREA and Mrs Jane Donovan who are conducting the Community Consultation for the appointment of our new Principal. They are speaking with students past and present, staff, parents, and other members of our community to hear our aspirations and vision for a new Principal. The report that is produced will be provided to the interview panel to help inform their decision and also to the new Principal upon appointment.

Parent Student Teacher Conferences

The first day of Term 2, Monday April 26, is a student free day to accommodate our Parent Student Teacher Conferences. I strongly encourage all of parents and carers to come along with their son to meet with his teachers to discuss his learning progress and to set goals for the remainder of the year. We know that strong relationships between home and school promote learning in many positive ways. I look forward to meeting many of you there.

End of Term

Next week is the end of a term, which although short, has been jam packed with learning and adventure. Many boys are showing signs of tiredness and are ready for a break. I encourage everyone to be vigilant with getting to bed at a reasonable hour so that we come to school ready to face the day in a calm and focussed manner. We expect that all boys will be working diligently to ensure that all assessment deadlines are met before they head off on a well deserved break. Please contact teachers early if you suspect your son has fallen behind on his work and needs some support to meet his assessment requirements.
