Celebration time

This week's Celebration Assembly was a wonderful coming together for our community: students, staff and many families joined together (in person!) to acknowledge the end of the term and the successes of students. We awarded Gold Badges for behaviour and class awards for key learning areas. Congratulations to students and thank you to the community for coming along in a COVID-safe manner and celebrating with us!

News from across classrooms

A group of Year 1 authors visited me yesterday!

They have been learning how to retell stories with beginning, middle and end (the structure of a narrative) as well as using great words to describe and paint a picture in our minds! They were so proud of their work... I can't wait to read their next story.

Today I spent time in Stage 3 classrooms as students began exploring the Learning Disposition Wheel. Students worked in small groups to better understand each disposition by drawing, mind-mapping and dramatising the disposition. They showed a great deal of focus, grit and curiosity during this session.

Stage 2 came up with this name for their problem-based learning program! Each week students in Years 3 and 4 work in teams to solve problems around our school. This term they have been focusing on making sure kids are building good friendships - and are keeping those friends! You can read more about this in 3/4 Steven Herrick's page.

We have continued to hold our Monday morning GEPS-Fest assemblies via Zoom - with students leading both the speaking at the assembly as well as the filming and working the audio.

We have learnt that, with help, our kids can do anything!

Ask your child about the song that has been playing at our school at the end of each break. It's a song in our local Dharug language about being friends.

Easter raffle and Hat parade!

A big thank you to families and businesses who donated chocolate eggs and hampers to our school. The P&C have collected eggs and made more than 40 prizes for our raffle! Congratulations to the winners. And a HUGE thank you to the P&C - they raised over $500 for our school and put in some great teamwork to make this happen.

To the students who paraded (and danced!) around with special Hats at our assembly - congratulations. What a nice way to end our first term - with fun and frivolity!
