O’Connor Catholic College Z Club are looking to provide more birthing kits and care packages this year for people in need. Over the past few years our school and wider community has been very generous in helping us to fill these packages, and provide money through our fundraiser, but we need your help again!!

Firstly, the care packages are assembled and given to people in our community who are in need of our help. We donate them to Vinnies, The Women’s Shelter, Youth Refuge, the elderly and sick who have been in hospital for various reasons. The contents include a face cloth, small toothpaste and toothbrush, small soaps, shampoos, body wash, conditioner and perhaps a little body lotion. Much of this can be collected from motel and hotel visits, but some of the items we purchase to add so that the package is a little more special and useful. 

The birthing kits are purchased by the Z Club at a cost of $5. The club assembles them on a date yet to be fixed (usually on a Saturday morning) with the help of students, parents/carers and friends. These kits are then distributed around the world by the Birthing Kit Foundation of Australia to women from the most disadvantaged places, who can then give birth in a more hygienic and safe manner.

On Friday 21st of May we will be holding a bake store at Break A and a pizza lunch at Break B. This fundraiser is to purchase supplies for the birthing kits and to help us create more care packages. To help this wonderful you can buy a pizza for $10 (we will be taking orders in the quad in break A and B for all of week 5)  or grab some sweet treats .

We ask kindly if you please have any spare sanitary products (e.g face cloths/washers, travel toothpaste/toothbrushes) if you could possibly donate them to the O’Connor Catholic Z Club to be placed in the care packages.
