2021 Athletics Carnival

This year's athletics carnival was a great success. Participation was good on the day and the war cries lived up to previous years with Merici being the winners of the War Cry competition.  A full report will be in our following issue of the Newsletter.

Congratulations to those athletes who performed at their best today with a special mention to Emerson Fittler who broke a 25 year old record of Jade Quinn's (23.35) with his blistering time of 23.04.

NSW Country Rugby Selection

GOING AHEAD IN STRIDES: Anastasia has continued to excel in her chosen sport, Rugby.

Anastasia Martin, who has been in Sydney competing in the NSWCCC Girls Rugby 7’s Selections, has apparently been selected! This is an amazing effort, so please congratulate her (I’ll confirm all tomorrow). She will now compete in the NSW All Schools Rugby 7’s Girls Selections in mid June.

Last Weekend Anastasia represented Central North girls Rugby U18s (15 a side) in Kiama in the Girls Country Rugby Championships. NSW Country side selectors were present and by the end of the weekend, Anastasia had gained selection in the  NSW Country Side.

Bill Turner Cup

GIrls

Our Under 15's Girls team were defeated 4-0 by Armidale Secondary College last Monday. Our girls played well but ASC were the better side on the day. Thanks to Mrs Janet Price for looking after the team.

Boys

Our Bill Turner Trophy team, played Inverell High last Tuesday. Both sides tried their hardest, but were outclassed by better opposition, who made the most of their opportunities. We both went down fighting 1-4. We wish our opponents all the best in their 3rd round encounters. Our students will continue to train hard, as our Diocesan Soccer Carnival is on the 4 June, at SportUNE.
