Parent Voice Meeting

Dear Parents and Carers,

Our very first Parent Voice meeting was held during Term 1 where we met a number of enthusiastic and interested parents and carers participating in this inaugural meeting.  We will hold a meeting for Parent Voice every term where we are hoping even more of our Mordialloc College community will attend.

The meeting was a great opportunity for our Parents and Carers to raise concerns and ask questions regarding all matters concerning Mordialloc College.

Topics discussed included the New Building Program, the Calendar of Events, as well as lunchtime activities and the new House Locker Bays.

As a result of these productive discussions, we are happy to announce that a number of actions have already taken place, including: 

• the Calendar of  Events, clubs and extracurricular events is now on Compass under the ‘star’ menu,
• tweaks to this term’s locker allocations,
• further drafting of a Compass User Guide for parents and carers, and
• exploration of offering more sporting opportunities and clubs during lunch breaks in the near future.

Also discussed was the review of student voice and agency, and there will be more detail to follow once the review of our current structure is completed later this term.  We will be seeking feedback on this new proposed model for 2022 onwards from parents/carers and students.

Finally, how to navigate and ensure parents are getting the most out of Compass was an area that parents/carers wished to know more about.  We hope to have the Compass User Guide booklet released soon to all parents/carers and we will be seeking feedback on this booklet at our next meeting on Thursday June 3rd at 7.00pm. 

Mr Andrew Moffat will be the Assistant Principal present at our next Parent Voice meeting and he will be able to answer any Compass related questions. 

It will be great to see our parents/carers from Term 1 attend again later this term and we welcome new participants.  If you would like to attend the remote meeting (conducted via Google meet) please email: simon.cummins@education.vic.gov.au.  An agenda for the meeting will be advertised via our newsletter closer to the time.
