Principal Message
Coming back from 2020 was always going to be a challenge for schools as we adapted to the changes that have arisen to our everyday lives as a result of a historic pandemic. However, returning to face-to-face teaching and having parents back in the school grounds has boosted morale in the school and allowed us to all feel connected as a community again. The community that is created in a school is so important in the success of each child's journey in primary school. The importance of human interaction and the benefits that students have from interacting everyday together in a classroom speak volumes as I walk around the school each day and watch children learning together, reflecting on each others work, conferencing with their teachers and setting their goals. Coming back to full-time school was tiring for many students but everyone pushed through the term with enthusiasm and a willingness to try new things and work as a team.
As I reflect on the term the highlights during my first term here as Acting Principal, I cannot pinpoint one thing. Instead, it has been the culmination of many experiences as I have gotten to know the children, staff and parents that have been the most memorable. Coming to school everyday and seeing students happy to be here, seeing staff interact with each other in such respectful and friendly ways and watching students learn in all areas of the curriculum that motivates me. Each day is different for a principal and indeed for a teacher. No two days are the same and like everyone we have bad days. But one thing we have come to appreciate is that everyday the students will do something that will make us smile and feel proud. And each day the teachers are working to make a difference in the lives of the people they teach.
I hope you have a great Easter break and get a chance to unwind with the children after a busy term. There is a lot in store for Term 2, and I look forward to continuing the work with everyone next term.
Take care,
Nieta
