Easter Service at Southern
Extended Term 1 School Holidays 2021
Students return TUESDAY 27th APRIL
Many schools including Southern, will have an extended Term 1 holiday this year due to the Easter Break occurring directly before the Term 1 holidays.
The Term 1 break will commence from Good Friday (2nd April) extending over three weeks, with students returning on Tuesday 27th April.
Term 1 School Fees
A reminder that Term 1 school fees are due this Friday 1st April.
Annual Fee Discount
For families with children in Prep to Grade 12: There will be a 6.5% discount off the fees (excluding the levy) if the total annual fees and student levy are paid in full prior to the end of Term 1 (April 1st). Please see the Parent Handbook - School Fees for more information. Again, please contact Deanne or Lyndall if you would like to request an annual invoice - accounts - accounts@scc.tas.edu.au
Interim Reports
Interim reports for students in Kinder to Grade 2 have been sent home via email directly to parents today.
Interim reports for students in Grades 3 to 12 will be distributed tomorrow, Thursday 1st April. The reports will be sent home via email directly to parents.
These are a brief report reflecting students approaches and attitudes to learning.

Whole School Free Dress Day and PYP Sausage Sizzle - TOMORROW!!!
Supporting our garden!
A whole school Free Dress Day and Primary School Sausage Sizzle will be held on Thursday 1st April.
- Whole school - Please come dressed in green or as something wonderful out of the garden!
- Bring a gold coin donation
- PYP students sausage orders have now been closed - No further orders will be accepted.
- All proceeds will go towards our new hothouse
Students with Asthma and Anaphylaxis - Plans to be updated annually!
Please make sure that we have your child’s most recent Asthma and/or Anaphylaxis Action Plan.
The plan that we are referring to is the one that has the patient’s photo attached and is signed off by a doctor in the current year (2021).
According to ASCIA, Australia’s authority on anaphylaxis, the plans should be renewed by your doctor at least once a year.

Can you help?
Grade 8 Art students are needing bits and pieces for their artwork next term. The items/parts need to be smaller than 30cm. We would appreciate donations of items you no longer need.
Ideas:
- Clean, dry meat trays of various shapes/sizes
- Small cardboard boxes of similar shape to meat trays
- Bottle tops of various shapes and sizes
- Objects with interesting shapes/textures
- Different surfaced lino/cardboard, bubble wrap, fabric
- Plastic bits and bobs
- Broken toys that can be taken apart for interesting parts eg. remote control cars, etc.
- Computer parts
- Kitchen utensils
- Hair clips
- Smaller boxes

Can you help? (Repeat)
Plastic take away containers needed!
The Art Department is seeking clean plastic take away containers for an art project if you can help please can you drop them into the school office. Preferably the round 300 to 400ml size containers.
Save your Empty Matchboxes!
Please save your empty match boxes. The Art department is collecting them to be repurposed in an upcoming art unit.
