Tomodachi Project week 5

This week students met with Lilyvale student's online to learn about each other's money. We were shown the Japanese notes and coins and challenged to find 'Nihon Ginko' written on the note. After a clue, we finally located it written very tiny in a corner of the note. Students also discovered that Japanese money is made of paper in comparison to our plastic money.

We showed the Japanese students our Australian money, highlighting the animals on each coin. We then played a quick game, where students had to guess which student was hiding a coin in their hands. It was a great way to refresh each other's names.

Next week, students are looking forward to sharing and explaining their lunch with each other

We went to the Melbourne Zoo

Melbourne Zoo recount - Grade 2CT

“Last Friday the grade 1/2 students went to the Melbourne Zoo on the bus and I sat next to Josh. My group was Josh, Leana, Flynn Charlie and Celeste. We got there by bus. My teacher was Miss Todeschini. There was lots of people and animals. My favourite animal was the cassowary. The second we saw it eat its poo we were out of there! We saw the cameras that were watching the animals on the Zoo site. My favourite were the birds, the cassowary, the butterflies and the koala.”

-Jed 2CT

“Roar! Growled the lion as the grade 2 classes stared at the glass. We were at the Melbourne Zoo. There were some play areas at the zoo but we didn’t get to play on them although we did have a very fun time. There were lots of cool animals that we saw. My favourite animal was the seals because when we went into the room where the seals were, it was dark and it looked really cool. We went to the zoo so we could do an information report about the animal that we choose.”

-Rachel 2CT

“Last Friday the 1/2s went to the Melbourne Zoo. I sat next to Ben J on the way there when we went on the bus. We had groups and in my group I had Ben J, Ben K, Stella, Rachel and Molly. Wild dogs eat warthogs. They live in a forest. They are endangered and sometimes cute. Sometimes they fight each other, they live near trees and sleep near them. They are fast at running and they have a strong roar which is very good when it comes to killing prey. Wild dogs have tails that are small to people. Wild dogs are very dangerous to people and animals.”
