Open Night – Tuesday 25th May
Each year, in the state-wide Education Week, we invite families in to celebrate our great school and the learning programs. We look forward to gathering our COMMUNITY on Tuesday 25th May.
Police Visit – Prep & Year 1
Thank you to Matt, Bianca and the Vic Police team who came out yesterday to support our Prep ‘Communities’ Unit of Inquiry. As I shared last week, experiential learning is a great way to add purpose and engage students in the learning programs being delivered.
NAPLAN
Congratulations to all of our students in Years 3 and 5 for your positive attitude towards the Australia-wide NAPLAN assessments this week.
Perception on the purposefulness of NAPLAN is varied, particularly in the media. From my perspective, like any assessment tool, it has its place. Whilst other assessments give us immediate understanding of where an individual child or a group of children are in their learning progression, NAPLAN serves to give schools and the education system an understanding of the health of the educational programs being delivered. This year’s state-wide and national NAPLAN data will provide insights into the effects of 2020, the pandemic year and the future direction of our school and system.
Prep 2022 sibling and in-zone enrolments
A reminder to families that have siblings at the school, or community members who are in our school zone - please submit your enrolment documentation now.
Our school is proudly a school of choice in the area and currently inundated with enrolment applications. Our school offers 105 Prep positions each year, which results in planned average class sizes of:
- 17.5 in Prep
- 21 in Year 1 & 2
- 23 in Year 3 & 4
- 26 in Year 5 & 6
If you are ‘in-zone’ or a ‘sibling’ the DET’s Priority Order of Placement acknowledges that our school will automatically accept your enrolment. In saying that, if you submit your application late it can affect our planned class sizes and, in turn, your child’s access to their educators.
If that is the case for your family, please either submit your application form this week or request an enrolment form from our Enrolment Officer, Robyn Miller at robyn.miller@education.vic.gov.au.
