From the Principal

                                                                           Therese Stewart

Dear Families,

We are very quickly approaching the end of the school term!  The children have settled back into school very well and are extremely glad to be back onsite, as are all staff.  Connections were maintained during remote learning but it is never the same as face to face.

A reminder if you child is unwell please keep them at home until they are feeling better.

There are several staffing announcements to make:-

  • Jennie O'Dell in Year 5-6 will be retiring at the end of the term after many years at Our Lady's as a teacher and parent.  Jennie is looking forward to spending time with her family and more time in Canberra with her husband.
  • Calvin Mujie, Year 3-4 will be leaving us at the end of this term and has accepted a position at Aquinas College in Ringwood.  Calvin is looking forward to his new role and not having to travel such a long distance to school each day.
  • Robyn Atherton has made the difficult decision to retire for health reasons.  She is very well at the moment but accepts that schools are places with lots of germs and is mindful of her own health.
  • Mary Bedford is currently on leave, which will continue into next term as she cares for her husband who is very unwell.
  • We welcome new staff members Clare Bisby to Year 5-6, Yvette Egonidis to Year 3-4 and Connie Lania to the library.

Parent Teacher Meetings are next Thursday starting at 1:40.  Information regarding booking your Zoom time is in the newsletter and has been emailed today.  Children will finish at 1pm on this day.  There will be supervision in place for children who are unable to be collected.

The first Monday of next term, 12th July will be a pupil free day.  We apologise for the short notice but hope this date will cause the least amount of impact for families.  OSH Club will run a pupil free day program for children who may require care.  This day is to replace the day we postponed due to remote learning.  It is important we start the process for preparation for the school review in fourth term.  This and SMART goals are the focus for staff professional learning on the day.  We have been trying to reorganise the facilitators presenting on the day and this was our earliest possible date to reschedule.  Many thanks for your understanding.

School reports will be available through the nForma parent portal on Friday.  This is not the regular parent portal.  You will receive an email in your inbox from nForma on Friday with a link and password that will enable you to access your child's report.

Don't forget the Trivia Night planned for the 17th July.  Plans are still going ahead and fingers crossed we won't be restricted by Covid 19!

The last days of term are very busy ones with term 4 planning meetings for teachers, parent teacher meetings, teacher professional learning and the day to day routines of normal school life.  If you have any concerns or questions in regard to your child please do not hesitate to contact their teacher.  We want all children to be happy and safe while at school and value the collaboration between home and school.

We have had a fabulous response to our collection of non perishable food for St Vincent De Paul.  We know there is a huge demand in the local area for families in need.   We have already had some of the parish Vinnies volunteers collect some of our food donations due to a shortage in supplies.  We will extend the time for donations until the end of term.  Many thanks for your generosity and thoughtfulness as we continue to profile the importance of social justice in our school and in our lives.  Our class captains are being kept busy tallying donations each day and bringing them to the school foyer.

Congratulations to the Stathis Family (Christopher in Year 1-2) on the safe arrival of their new baby brother Archie!  Christopher tells me that Archie is a very quiet baby and does not make any noise!!

A reminder that children finish next Friday for the end of term 2 at 1pm.  OSH Club will be available from that time for families who need care.

Until next week

Therese
