EISTEDDFOD PERFORMANCES

CAPA teacher, Mrs Rosie Sims has been working with Sacred Heart students all term in readiness for singing performances in the Narrabri and Gunnedah Eisteddfods.

As a result three students from Sacred Heart performed in the Narrabri Eisteddfod last week with fantastic results.

Congratulations to Xanthia Watson who was awarded 1st place in the Singing Solo in Costume (Yr 3/4) and Evie Watt who came 2nd in the same event.

Georgia Baird performed in the Singing Solo in Costume (Yr 5/6) and received 1st place.

What an amazing effort by all three students!

GUNNEDAH EISTEDDFOD

Last Thursday our choir and small group performers did an amazing job and they were rewarded with some wonderful results and feedback from the adjudicator.

In the Small Schools Musical Entertainment section we had three groups perform.

Our Yr 3/4 girls performed 'The Rainbow Connection' and were awarded 1st place with 86 points.

Adjudicator's Comment:

You sang this with enthusiasm and obvious enjoyment. The actions were well done and it was sung sweetly with clear diction. Thank you for your entertaining performance today.

Our second girls group sang 'I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair' and with 85 points received 2nd place.

Adjudicator's Comment:

Soloist opening was well projected. Ensemble was fairly together - just try to make your movements a little crisper and always together. Projection of lyrics and vocal tone was overall clear and well placed. 2nd vocalist was confident in performance.

Our Yr 3/6 boys  performed 'Food, Glorious Food' and placed 3rd with 82 points.

Adjudicator's Comment:

Entry was well tuned. At times the words weren't so clear. A little more vocal projection would have helped your performance. So good to see all boys singing together. Actions were appropriate and I loved the food pictures.

Our school choir performed in the Small Schools Choir section and was awarded 2nd place with 85 points singing 'Somewhere Only We Know'.

Adjudicator's Comment:

Well done to the 4 opening soloists. You sang this song with sincerity and feeling and made a good effort to capture the mood. Keep working on your vocal blend and pitching so that you are all together on the same notes. diction overall was clear and you had a pleasing vocal tone.

A massive thank you to Mrs Rosie Sims for the hours of tireless work that went into preparing our students for the event.
