National Simultaneous Storytime @ BPS

On the 19th of May, our school participated in National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) and joined over 1 MILLION kids around Australia and New Zealand, as well as

astronauts from the International Space Station in reading, ‘Give Me Some Space!’.

Throughout the day, staff and students all around the school could be seen enjoying this great read.

About this book:

"Una dreams of a life in Space. Life on Earth is just so so-so. But how will she get there? And will she complete her mission to discover life in Space? And did she remember to feed Neil the goldfish?"

Written and Illustrated by Philip Bunting.

We were excited to hear directly from Philip Bunting when he posted the following message on our school's Instagram page, "Astronomical thanks for supporting NSS – I really hope everyone enjoyed the reading! Please say g’day to all of your Astronauts-in-Waiting from me :)". ✨🛰️🚀

Book Talk! | GIVE ME SOME SPACE by Philip Bunting

Here are samples of ‘Give Me Some Space’ Book Talk by some junior students from Prep C and Grade 1D.

Philip Bunting shares Una’s hopes and dreams before she takes off to Space. This is a whimsical engaging fictional story as well as factually informative. Students are taken on an adventure with great insight and wonder. There were many questions and many cool and interesting facts in the reading.

Have a glance at how these students responded to the reading.

Great artwork too!
