Mayor of Bayside, Laurence Evans OAM visits Grade Three students

This term the Grade 3 students have been inquiring into how rules and laws support communities. We focused on the Bayside community to understand how local government functions to support citizens. 

On Tuesday, May 18, the Mayor of Bayside, Laurence Evans OAM, came to visit. 

The Mayor showed the students his ceremonial robe which is worn for appropriate civic and ceremonial occasions, as well as answered questions from the students including: 

• How laws are made?
• Why and how laws changed?
• What are the responsibilities of the Bayside Council?
• What are the differences between different councils?
• How do local laws impact the community?
