From Principal Steve | Update Remote Learning |Onsite Supervision

Dear Parents and Carers,

Here we go again (unfortunately :) .......we have successfully navigated remote learning for most of Term 2 and Term 3 last year, together we can make remote learning work for four days next week.

As you know, the Victorian Government today (Thursday 27th May ) announced a lockdown from Friday 28th May - Thursday 3rd June 2021 to prevent the spread of the COVID-19.

In line with the directions issued from Victoria’s Chief Health Officer, all Victorian schools will move to a period of remote and flexible provision from Monday 31st May to Thursday 3rd June inclusive.

Please note: Friday 28th May (tomorrow) will be a student free day

Parents requiring onsite supervision on Friday 28th May can make these arrangements with TeamKids at 1300 035 000.

Next week, schools must continue to provide on-site supervision for students in the following categories:

  1. Children whose parents are considered essential workers, cannot work from home and where no other supervision arrangements can be made. Both parents must be considered essential workers.
  2. Vulnerable children, including children in out-of-home care, children deemed by Child Protection and/or Family Services to be at risk of harm and children identified by the school as vulnerable (including via referral from a family violence agency, homelessness or youth justice service or mental health or other health service).

To assist us with planning, please complete this survey as soon as possible ONLY IF YOUR CHILD/REN MEET THE CRITERIA OUTLINED ABOVE and you would like your child/ren to attend the on-site supervision program at Brighton Primary School.

Please note: your child's classroom teacher will not be supervising the onsite remote learning program next week as they will be facilitating the remote learning program for their entire class from their own home. Students attending the onsite remote learning program at school will be supervised by our Specialists teachers (PE, Art, Music & French teachers), Hearing Unit teachers plus our Integration Aides.

Our teachers are teaching students all day today. Tomorrow, our teacher teams will meet online to ensure plans for remote learning are set in place to start on Monday 31st May 2021.

Lastly, a reminder that remote learning works best when the teacher(s), student and parent work in partnership to support the child and their learning especially in the younger (P-3) grade levels.

Thank you for your support, flexibility and collaboration to ensure remote learning is a success.

Steve
