Being e-Smart

Supporting your family to be safe online

With digital devices in almost all homes of our students, it is important to Northcote High School to support young people and families to deal with the ever-evolving benefits and issues that come with having such devices in the home. The eSmart section of the newsletter will run regularly and offer guidance to families on a series of topics from device use, cybersafety, dealing with cyber-bullying, using safety settings on your family’s web-connected devices, tips for choosing movies and games and strategies for keeping young people safe online.

All information is taken from the Federal Government’s eSafety Commissioner’s website https://www.esafety.gov.au/education-resources/iparent

This first instalment looks at some data collected from a Survey commissioned by the Office of the Children’s eSafety Commissioner, June 2016, of 2360 parents in Australia with children aged 8 to 17 years old who access the internet.
