A rollicking time was had at the Friends of Music Quiz Night, held on April 28. 16 teams battled for supremacy in topics ranging from '60s music to Australian military history. Additional competitions for the trivia-challenged were greatly enjoyed, with some testing their skill on the coin roll whilst others displayed their artistic side in constructing diaromas depicting various films (all of which your author managed to guess: a testament to the craftspeople's skill alone!). Creativity was on display in the DIY table decorations, which gave valuable bonus points, as well as in some of the sumptous feasts brought along. Most importantly, however, over $3000 was raised to support the Music program: a great contribution to this year's goal of purchasing a bassoon for student use.
Much gratitude goes to the parents of the Friends of Music for organising the event, ably supported by Kirsten Kelly-Cleeve and Jackie Brogan, and to the wonderful Jonathon and Elisha Templin who were our MCs for the evening.
Over 500 community members braved the rain on April 27 to attend our Open Morning, and were treated to a glimpse of our school in action, along with some special 'extras' such as our Food students making coffee and treats, our Year 7s talking about transition and our International Students sharing tea and food from their homelands. The highlight of the morning was undoubtedly the numerous students who demonstrated their leadership by being tour guides, speakers, greeters and program representatives. Many visitors commented on how impressed they were with our students' confidence, eloquence and clear pride in the school.
