Leadership & Achievement

Week 5 Assembly

A whole-school assembly in Week 5 gave Ms Lasker an opportunity to acknowledge the wonderful achievements of ASC students before she departed on her secondment to work with Rural and Distance Education programmes for the rest of this year.

During the assembly students were recognised for their achievements at the Athletics Carnival, along with trophies for our debaters.

Voice for regional students

Nicole Tarrant (Year 10) recently headed to Sydney to participate in a 24-member student council representing the voice of almost one-million public school students in NSW at the Department of Student Voices in Education and Schools (DOVES). Nicole says:

My trip to Parramatta was a life-changing experience. I had my first ever plane flight, got to meet the Minister of Education (Sarah Mitchell) in Parliament, made many new friends, and met many influential people. It was really interesting to collaborate and share ideas with other keen students, communicating our passions and ideals.

I was part of the “rural north” directorate which focused on issues and advances/ improvements that are currently affecting government schools, especially in our area. I was honoured to bring a rural perspective to the intriguing discussions that took place.

Thank you to wonderful Mrs Magann who accompanied me and Mr Breen for his invaluable support.

I cannot wait to see what the DOVES Council has to offer for the future, and to be a voice for the millions of students throughout NSW."

Well done Nicole, we are thrilled that you had this terrific experience!
