FRENCH

Bonjour tout le monde!

I hope you're all well and taking good care of yourselves.

While in remote learning, I have been trying to offer  the students some activities that were fun and easy to do online in small groups.  I saw them all in the afternoons and I know they can be quite tired after a whole morning working on their own at home.

I hope they've enjoyed the 25 minutes spent online doing a bit of French...

  • The Preps have watched a new Barbapapa video to introduce a new topic, animals. They drew an elephant and learnt a new sentence: L'éléphant mange la banane (the elephant is eating the banana).
  • In Years 1 and 2, the new topic is 'clothes' (les vêtements).  For the first time, I shared with them the App Procreate that I use a lot on my iPad.  It enabled them to watch my screen and follow my instructions while labelling and colouring a drawing that they had to print before the lesson. It was fun for all of us to do it together. Here are a few snapshots of our lesson online:
  • In Years 3 and 3/4, we watched the French song of the week from Patrick Fiori: 'Les gens qu'on aime' (The people we love).  The students wrote down a list of objects seen in the video clip that they wanted to learn in French and we translated them together.  They recorded the list in their notebooks.
  • Finally, in Years 4/5 and 5/6, we watched 'Sous le ciel de Paris' (Under the sky of Paris) sung by ZAZ (that I posted in Nokuna a few weeks ago) and we recorded a list of actions seen in the video clip.  Together, we practiced conjugating some new verbs. The more familiar the students will become with verb endings, the easier it will be for them to create full sentences.

C'est tout pour aujourd'hui. (That's it for today)

Have a nice week!

A bientôt!
