Physical Education & Sport

Develop a love for movement

Welcome to term 4! With the weather hopefully improving as we move further into the term, we will see many more opportunities for our students to be active outdoors and enjoying the sunshine.

This term our Prep & 1/2 students will be focusing on the one handed and two handed strike. Developing this skill through various modified games of tennis, cricket, teeball and hockey. This translates across to the net & wall games our grades 3/4 and 5/6s will be exploring. This includes the sports of tennis, badminton, volleyball and down ball.

We will be kicking off our swimming program in week 6 of this term. Students will be heading down to Splash Aqua Park and Leisure Centre for a week of swim school. Here students will learn the vital skills of swimming and water safety. Enhancing their knowledge of safety around water as well furthering their skills and stroke development.

We started the term off with a Rugby Gala day in week one. The boys and girls tackle team had been training hard with Mr. Ly. After they had a good understanding of the rules Mr. Ly helped develop their skill and strategies for the gala day. It was shaping up to be a very successful day for both teams and all the students were very excited.

However, not everything goes to plan. The weather was not on our side that day and unfortunately after round one the event was called off with our teams not getting on the pitch. Mr. Schultz and I are currently planning another Rugby event to reward the students for their hard work and determination.

The upcoming events this term include:

  • 3/4 & 5/6 Hoop time
  • Lawn bowls gala day
  • Sphero Olympics
