Principals Team Report
Welcome to 2022 - "Achieving Excellence Together."
Thank you to all parents and students who have been coming to school on time at
8.50 a.m. each morning.
To ensure all students receive the full amount of learning time we have introduced a new initiative to encourage ALL students to arrive at school on time everyday and all of the time.
Being on time all of the time means:
This term we have launched our new Social and Emotional Curriculum through Mindfull Aus. Healthier Hearts and Lighter Minds is a proactive approach to learning about the beauty of our minds and the understanding of the strength we are to ourselves when we tap into what exist within.
Students across the school will be participating in an incursion to support the launch of this program in a fun, energetic and relatable content that is designed to help students shift the narrative about talking about emotions and feelings.
The day will introduce the students to 6 core emotions:
These emotions will support our students to see themselves as champions of tomorrow, to help combat and navigate through life's inevitable situations and challenges.
The outcomes of this program are:
IDENTIFY - the 6 core emotions in the human face. Being able to recognise our emotions and the importance of each of them to our learning. The importance of validating each individual feeling and thought rather than suppressing and ignoring.
CONTROL - techniques and strategies to understand how to positively control different emotions using Gratitude, Kindness, Breathwork, Exercise and Stillness.
EXPRESS - being confident in talking about our thoughts , and emotions with trusted adults, teachers, parents and friends. Understanding the importance our words and actions with every waking minute and the support that exists to us in our communities, removing stigma to speak up.
BUILD EMOTIONAL LITERACY - In 2023, teachers will be delivering a structured curriculum based on identifying, controlling and expressing these 6 core emotions.
A parent session is being organised for early 2023 to build emotional literacy so that our students are better supported and equipped with the same emotional vocabulary and understanding at school and at home.
