Junior Sport Update - Week 2

It was great to see the sun out shining brightly and blue skies over the weekend. This allowed for only our second full day of Summer sport. Prior to last weekend, it was only the Basketball teams in the Junior School that got to play for much of Term 1. Unfortunately, not all teams were able to get out on the field. Some Cricket fixtures were cancelled due to field conditions being deemed dangerous by the council. Fingers crossed the rain stays away and we get the majority, if not all, the remaining Summer fixtures completed this term.

A reminder to all Junior School families that we will no longer be using Team App to inform you regarding fixtures, training and cancellations. All this information will now come through the new St Patrick’s College app. Steps on how to subscribe and receive notifications via SPC App can be found in previous Especean articles.

This week, we have two students representing NSWCIS at the NSWPSSA Athletics Carnival. This is a great achievement, and we wish Andre Bilotta and Levi Berbari of Year 6 all the best for their sprint races. Success in this carnival may lead to NSW representation, so we know the boys will be giving their all at the carnival. Good luck boys!

Summer Sports Skills Program

There seems to be some confusion with the boys and their commitment to the Summer Sports Skills Program. The intention of the program is two-fold. It is designed to help boys develop skills across all sports and improve their chances of selection in future seasons, as well as give those that missed out on a Summer sport in Term 1 an opportunity for involvement at that time. Commitment in Term 1 would then be followed through into Term 4, thus completing a full Co-curricular commitment for Summer sport. I appreciate that since Term 1, many boys have gone on to represent the College in a Winter sport and other cultural Co-curricular activities. I will be meeting with all boys that have signed up to the program on Thursday 20 October, I have attached a list of participants below to help identify if your son nominated for the program. Please discuss this with your son to determine if they are to continue involvement with the program, as the meeting will focus on confirming numbers for Term 4. This will allow for sessions to be timetabled in the weekly fixtures and coaches to be appointed.

Good luck to all teams for Round 8 this weekend. Let’s hope for more blue skies over the coming days.
