Principal's Message

 Dear Parents:

Kindy Transition Days:

2023 Kindy students will begin their transition days today, Wednesday, 19th October for five consecutive Wednesdays. Welcome to all our wonderful new students and their families!

PSSA Championships:

For the next two days, Lacey, Blake, Charlie and Jordan will be heading to Sydney to compete in the PSSA Championships. Lacey is running in the 100 metre for her age division and the four of them make up our relay team competing. This is such a huge achievement for these kids and we wish them all the best of luck!

Sport and Rec Camp – Broken Bay:

Information was sent earlier this week to finalise payments and prepare families who have a child attending the Broken Bay camp Monday 24th October. Payment is due today. If you are unable to finalise this, please contact the school to arrange a payment plan. Myself and Mrs Street will be attending this excursion and will therefore be absent from school. Miss Patterson and Mr Crawford will be teaching the remaining students.

Anne’s Leave:

Our wonderful office Manager, Anne will be on leave all of next week. Please be patient when calling the school as there will be no one in the office. You may leave a message on our answering service and Miss Patterson will get back to you as soon as she can.

Edward The Emu:

On Friday 4th November, all students will travel to Tamworth to attend the Theatre Production Edward The Emu at Capitol Theatre. A permission note was sent home with your child yesterday. Please return by this Friday.

Fun Run Ride:

On Friday 11th November, all students will be participating in our annual Fun Run Ride. This involves students riding their push bikes or walking Terrible Vale Road.

At the end of last term each child should have received a fund raiser booklet with information on raising money for the event.

Learn to Swim Program:

We have organised our annual Learn to Swim Program to be held for two consecutive weeks starting Monday 28th November at the Uralla Pool our time has been booked in for 12pm to 1pm each day.

Additional Staff Development Day Announcement:

As we near the end of the year, I want to thank you for your ongoing support and notify you of a date change for the last day of Term 4 classes.

Students will now finish school on Friday 16 December 2022.

This is due to an additional School Development Day announced for staff across NSW public schools.

School Development Days allow our staff to participate in professional learning that was put on hold due to COVID-19 staffing pressures and plan ahead for 2023 to ensure we meet the needs of our students.

With this change, we ask that you arrange alternative care for your child on Monday 19 December.

You can find local vacation care services for your child via the Before and After Care School Finder.External link

While there will be no classes on Monday 19 December, if you cannot arrange alternative care for your child, we will provide minimal supervision at school.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at school.

New England Sings!

New England Sings will be held this weekend, Sunday 23rd October. A rehearsal is on Saturday 22nd October in the morning. We will be busy each day leading up to this rehearsing the songs here at school. Please make sure you have the correct clothing for the event. This includes coloured t-shirt (no logos), Black pants (not shorts or bike shorts), Black socks and Black school shoes.

I will send the information home with children again this week informing you all on what needs to happen on both the rehearsal day and the performance day. Please make sure you read this carefully and contact me if you need assistance/clarification with anything.

I have been assured that everything at the Secondary College will be well signed and there are people helping with parking, etc, but to make things easier, I have attached a map of Armidale Secondary College with a cross on it. I would like to meet you all at the cross and we can go in together as a group. On Saturday for the rehearsal, I will be waiting there until 9am. On the Sunday for the dress rehearsal, I will be there until 12:35pm. I figured everyone is going to look the same so this way we can stick together!

If anyone missed out on purchasing tickets for New England Sings!, they will be streaming the concert through the Australian Digital Concert Hall. Tickets are $12 (including program) for viewing on one device and can be purchased at https://www.australiandigitalconcerthall.com/#/item/98513
