 GROW Awards

GROW Awards are awarded weekly across the school. Each GROW adds to one of the four Faction’s tally. Students aim to be the leading Faction by Week 10 to secure the End of Term Faction Reward.

Today, students from the Canning Faction shared in the rescheduled End of Term 3 Faction Reward!  They had a choice between movies and icy poles in the School Hall, or tabloid sports and icy poles on the oval. Hope you enjoyed your reward, Canning!

The Term 4 tallies are underway and congratulations to students who have achieved a GROW award already! This Term’s reward will be a water fight, so may the best faction win!

Faction Tallies at the end of Week 1:

FACTION
Canning:  3
Gwai:  8
 Nairn: 6
Moreau:  13

Totals are also displayed on the School Hall window, outside the front office on the PBS ‘Growometer’.

Circus Challenge

The Year Five students from Rooms 5, 6, 7, and 11 participated in an in-school activity Circus Challenge as part of PBS (Positive Behaviour Support) on Thursday 13th October 2022.

The experience provided a catalyst for students to step outside their comfort zones and try new things, as well as strengthen their understanding of Health and Physical Education. Students attended a 60-minute workshop, learning from circus professionals about goal setting, problem-solving, and above all; the joy of learning a new skill.

A Recount From Carine, Year 5, Room 7

For the Circus Challenge, two gentlemen performed very exciting challenges. They demonstrated balancing acts, juggling, unicycle, spinning plates, diabolo, and spinning sticks. They were very humorous as well.

After that, we practiced these tricks and it was fun. We learned to do a few tricks with the boy, spinning plates, spinning sticks, and balancing tricks. The trick that I found the most challenging was the spinning plates because of the wind as we had to learn this trick outdoors.

We wished the performance never ended because we all had such a great time watching and participating.
