The Amazing Literacy in Room 13

In Kindy, we have been further developing our literacy skills. A large part of our literacy learning is done orally and using hands-on games. This means that the students don’t always have an end product to take home to show families what they have been learning at Kindy. We have been implementing a new oral language program to help us learn our sounds and how to manipulate those sounds, we call it ‘word work’. We use hand movements to assist our understanding. In Kindy, we are always learning and consolidating our knowledge and we use digital technology to help us. We play age-appropriate, educational games on the iPads and on the interactive whiteboard. We also watch stories being read on the interactive board. This term we will be using our oral skills to have a go at writing.
