From the   Principal's

Desk

Janine Kinninment

Welcome to Term 4. This term is a very busy one. Please check the calendar on our school website for dates of events throughout the term.  There are a number of events for parents such as the 2023 Kindy Orientation in Week 4, and BYOD for Year 3 (2022) parents in Week 5.  Our Award’s Assemblies will be held on Fridays this year in Weeks 8 and 9 and the Year 6 Graduation in the last week of school.

Mrs Green our crosswalk attendant is on leave until Monday afternoon 24th October.  While I am assisting at the crosswalk during Mrs Green’s absence I ask that you discuss safe crossing the road practices with your child.  This may include crossing where there is a traffic warden outside Willetton SHS or at the traffic lights if there is no one to help them cross the road.

National School Opinion Survey

Our Parent National School Opinion Survey is open. I encourage every parent/carer to complete this very important survey. If you do not want to make any comments to the two questions at the end of the survey just type in a response such as ‘none’ and then submit.  To date, we have 74 parent/carer surveys completed and 40 not completed.  The Board is keen to collect at least 250 parent responses before next Friday 28th October.  The information on the survey is used for future school planning.  QR codes for the survey are available near the school gates. Simple scan the QR code and complete the survey.  The survey has also been sent as a text to parents/carers, just click on the link and complete the survey.

P & C Meeting

The next P & C Meeting is on this Monday 24th October in the School Hall commencing at 7:00 pm. All parents/carers are welcome to attend.

Undercover Area Update

As you would be aware our new undercover area build has commenced.  A very small amount of asbestos has been found in an old drain and will be removed over a weekend following safe work practices by the builder.

Covid 19

As you would be aware, National Cabinet agreed on a nationally consistent approach to easing Australia’s COVID-19 response measures. This removes mandatory requirements for isolation and testing for cases and close contacts. We know that COVID-19 remains a risk to our health and well-being, particularly those vulnerable to respiratory illness, so it is very important for all of us to take personal responsibility to keep ourselves and our families safe. It remains important for anyone who is unwell to stay at home.

Inspiring  Year 6 Students

Our Year 6 cohort of 135 students ran an exceptional Market Day last week. Congratulations to the Year 6 students, parents, and Year 6 teachers for all of their hard work to make this such a memorable event for all students of Burrendah Primary School.

BRACE

Our BRACE Year 5 students presented a Night of Inventions to their families on Tuesday evening. Parents were justifiably proud of their child’s presentation and achievement. Congratulations to Mrs Griffiths for all of her work teaching and coordinating this Gifted and Talented Program.

Mrs Griffiths will be on leave for the remainder of the term and will be back at Burrendah Primary School next year.

Ms M’s new baby

Congratulations to Ms McGuirk, our Art teacher, and her partner Joe on the safe arrival of their new daughter Olive Eliza-Mae Mooney on the 5th October.
