A Journey through the years with PCG 12.3

As we prepare to say our goodbyes to the Class of 2022, lets take a look back on the journey of the boys in PCG12.3 and their leader Mr Ben Kriszyk, who has not only provided pastoral care and support for these young men over the years but helped create some lifelong TC memories for them.

We thank all our incredible Year 12 PCG teachers for the support they have provided to our leaving class!!

ACC ISP Carnival

On Friday, 9 September students Taylor Langer (12.1), Callum Morosini (12.2) and Calvin Trinh (7.1) attended the Associated and Catholic Colleges (ACC) Inclusive Sports Program Athletics Carnival, for the second year running.

The annual event was hosted by St Norberts College this year with the support of the students and staff from The University of Notre Dame who officiated the carnival. The boys competed against schools such as Newman, Servite, Guildford Grammar, John XXIII and Mercedes, to name a few. Although Trinity College was the smallest school attending the event, the students had a great day, enjoying the beautiful weather and achieving great results.

A special mention must be made to our very own Callum Morosini for winning three 1st place medals on the day, which he wore very proudly.

The Sue Bigelow Sheild is awarded to the school that embodies the ACC maxim of “Sport in the Right Spirit” on the day, this year recipients were the well-deserved John XXIII College. They showed outstanding inclusive opportunities for participation, team spirit, personal development, and leadership. We look forward to representing the College in 2023.

“I had a really great time, and I really enjoyed it. I loved the Long Jump; it was great fun to try. I came second in this event.” (Taylor Langer 12.1)

“I feel really good about representing Trinity as I always make new friends there, especially from Mercedes and Servite. I feel pleased for participating in all the events I was selected for. I have a total of 6 medals from all the carnivals I have gone too.” (Callum Morosini 12.2)

Year 8 Quiz Social @ Mercedes College

On the afternoon of Thursday 8th September, the Year 8 Trinity students went to Mercedes College for a Quiz Afternoon with the Year 8 Mercedes students. Before we left school for the social, all the boys were assigned into groups and told how we would be moving from table to table after each round of quiz questions. This was a good way for all the students to mix with each other and provide some healthy competition amongst the tables. With an entertaining Quiz Master, we competed in 3 rounds based on Trinity and Mercedes questions – there were a few standout knowledgeable students from Trinity in this round; Movies – the Mercedes girls excelled here; and Music & Famous People – a fairly even spread of knowledge around all the tables. Following a break for some delicious snacks provided by Mercedes, our Quiz Master had us compete in a Moon Walking competition and special mention goes to Christian Gavin taking the W for his moon walking.

It was an enjoyable afternoon socialising with the Year 8 Mercedes girls and it’s great to see we’ve come a long way from our Year 7 social awkwardness. Thank you to Mercedes College for hosting the afternoon.

A Great Start to the Day

A lovely morning tea was served by Taylor Langer and Callum Morosini this morning as part of the culmination of their ASDAN towards independence program. The food and preparation was all prepared by the boys and well received by staff. Well done gents!

"TrinitySpeare"

This week in English, some of the Year 8 boys have been tasked with researching and designing biographical context posters on William Shakespeare in preparation for our next unit of work! It has been wonderful to see their collaborative teamwork highlighting the TC Spirit of camaraderie in their pursuit of knowledge.

You may see some ‘themed Shakespeare’ posters appearing, including our very own “TrinitySpeare” sporting the classic green and blue; he could be the “Oldest Boy” as some of the Year 8s put it!

Year 8 Grandparents Morning Tea

On Tuesday, the class of 2026 was able to share the morning with their Grandparents. This was an amazing opportunity for the boys and hopefully a memory they will cherish forever. Massive thanks must go to Ms. Melanie Dunn, Ladies Auxiliary and parent helpers, Mrs Rosa West, Fr Oscar Aguilera and Mrs Ann Clark for their support in coordinating and running the program throughout the morning.

Reflection

Going into the Grandparent's morning tea I was excited as I was going to spend some quality time with my Grandma and Grandpa and that was exactly what I got to do. I got to spend this time with them through activities like Mass, singing and the morning tea. Overall, I learnt not to take my time with my grandparents for granted, that every second counts with them and that they are almost the most important people in our lives. I would like to do this great experience again in the future as I learnt a lot of things from it.

Prefect Perspectives

Week 9, of Term 3, has been productive and event filled. Each week presents an array of important commitments, opportunities and avenues for students to express their capabilities across all four pillars at the College. This makes TC unique and the place to be!

Monday evening, marked the conclusion of the Catholic Performing Arts Festival with a showcasing concert at the Perth Exhibition Centre. Senior Chorale member, Johann Soares commented, “It was great to see our hard work rewarded with success and an amazing end to another CPAF season for the College.”

The annual Grandparents’ Morning Tea took place on Tuesday and was a special time for the Year 8 boys to share their school and some cakes with their grandparents. Further to this, two Trinity and Mercedes socials were held for students in Year 7 and Year 8.

In Year 12, ATAR-English Literature this week, Mrs Peacham presented each of the class members with a personalised exam survival file. Fully equipped with Allen’s lollies, post-it notes, pens, markers and a comprehensive selection of revision tasks, to prepare the class for the study grind ahead. This thoughtful and helpful gesture brought to the fore my realisation that the Year 12 cohort was on the brink of its turning point, the final quarter, in the ‘Grand Final’, as Mr Hince so aptly describes. Our Year 12 experience was coming close to its end and this newsletter update will be the last from the prefect group for 2022.

This is the last week the Year 12 cohort will be together as a united group with Friday, 16 September, marking the culmination of formal classes. The day will see the Year 12’s share a lunch, say farewells and then be piped out through the Trinity College gates through a guard of honour. It will be a memorable day marking the significant achievements and contributions made by every student during his time at Trinity College - fully equipped to take on post-school endeavours! Good on you boys! Keep bleeding the Blue and Green…we are almost Old Boys!

Further to this, the Year 12, Semester 2 (Mock) exams start next week which extend through the school holiday period. Good luck lads! Study hard! The WACE exams will start in Term 4 on October 31. Presentation Night and Graduation take place early in Term Four and will ceremonially conclude the year for the class of 2022.

A special thank you to the PCG teachers who have been by our side through our secondary school years. Thank you to, Ms Purnell, Mr McKenna, Mr Kriszyk, Ms Wilson, Mr Russell, Ms Pontre, and Ms Webb for your support over the years. We are all very grateful. I would like to also take this opportunity to extend thanks on behalf of the cohort to all the teachers who have impacted our educational journey in a nurturing and positive manner. Each of you have had a powerful influence in shaping us into the TC men that we are today. A big thank you for this.

Many thanks to Ms Marocchi for leading us as our Head of Year over the last six years. Your ongoing guidance and support is immeasurable and we are tremendously appreciative of everything you have done for us. What an achievement!

As we go forward into the future, I’m certain that the Class of 2022 will continue to strengthen the brotherhood developed at TC. It’s been an incredible journey.
