Visual Arts

Year 7 & 8 students have had the refurbished printing press running hot this term applying their understanding of the printmaking process. Students created superhero logos using lino printing techniques. Their logo centred around the Respectful Relationships curriculum covered in our Connect classes. They worked collaboratively to produce and present editions of black and white, and even colour lino prints. Next up, Fawkner Dreamland, where students will create ceramic facades in response to the architecture magazines recently donated by our wonderful community.

Year 9 & 10 students have completed their ceramic sculpture unit responding to the theme of 'Hybrid' and we will fire and glaze their creations later this term. Students used hand-building techniques and applied a range of textures to sculptures as diverse as a Muhammad Ali/Tank hybrid, a Cheese Door, an undead hybrid beast, octopus pizza and more. We'll next examine how artists represent their understanding of reality, focusing on Van Gogh's 'The Starry Night' and his technique of juxtaposed colours.

Visual Communication Design students have completed their personal paper toy using package design techniques, resulting in a North Face paper doll, a fold-up novel of November 9, a Minion portable speaker and a Nemo finger puppet. They are finalising their reimagined album covers. I wish our solitary Year 12 student, Omar, the best for his final exam on the 27th of October.
