Success at HPSC
As another year draws to a close, we should take time to reflect on another very busy year. This year we enjoyed a welcomed return to continuous face to face teaching and learning. Term 4 was another busy term, one with many highlights.
Recently, our Valedictory Evening was celebrated at The Grand in Wantirna. Our students and staff looked amazing. It was a wonderful evening and we were glad to be able to share the evening with parents and families for the first time in a few years.
This week, the 2022 senior school results became available. At Hampton Park Secondary College, we believe that all students are unique, with different interests and strengths. Success looks different for everyone. The ATAR does not define a person or guarantee future success.
VCE DUX - Galatia Kinia: Galatia received an ATAR 94.4 and is aspiring to undertake Engineering (Mechanical) at Monash University
VCAL Dux – Hannah Varnham: Hannah is looking forward to a gap year in 2023, then wishes to undertake a course in Performing Arts.
Congratulations not only to Galatia and Hannah but also to all HPSC students who completed their schooling this year - we are excited to see what you all do next!
Thank you to Ms Kelly Krieg, Ms. Georgie Kios, Ms Cat Glenn and team for their work in driving Senior School improvement. Raising expectations, improving attendance, implementing the redemption of time, all contribute to building a positive culture of success. We will continue to work hard to improve success and outcomes for our students.
This week, we welcomed our 2023 Year 7 students to our college with the Orientation Day(s). As always, students were filled with excitement, with a few expected nerves. It was great to see so many smiling faces, eager to make new friends and learn new things.
Student enjoyed activities in the following areas of learning:
- Performing Arts
- Science
- Visual Arts
- Physical Education
Last week, our Commencement Program concluded. This year, all students across the college had the opportunity to step up and experience thier 2023 subjects. The program was successful with lots of positive feedback. It was great to see our students maintaining positive attendance. High achieving students attend school often and minimise gaps in their learning.
On Monday 19th December, the HPSC annual Presentation Evening will take place. It will be great to be back in the RPAC to celebrate in person. I would like to thank Mr Paul Broecker, Ms Eliza Campbell and the team of staff for their work behind the scenes. I would like to congratulate and thank all our award recipients. The event beings at 6.15pm and we are hoping you can join us. If you have received notification that your student is receiving an award on the night and you have not yet RSVP’s, please do so using this link: https://form.jotform.com/220677215033045
Stage 3 Building works are commencing over the January holidays. The appointed builders, Searle Brothers, will start with work on creating our new Wellness Centre and refurbishing our Science classrooms. Work will also commence on the much-needed drainage works. Following these upgrades, work will commence on transforming the G/J Building into Mabo House.
Over the Holidays we plan to update the canteen with internal painting. Recarpeting and painting the music room and the current Mabo administration area.
Last week, our 2023 Student Leaders- SRC, College Captains and Peer Support Leaders participated in their leadership camp at Philip Island Adventure Resort. The leadership opportunities that are available at the college are designed to promote inclusiveness, leadership, resilience, collaboration and reflection and for our students to develop their leadership skills and create a supportive environment for all students at school.
I look forward to working with our amazing student leaders in 2023.
