Spotlight on Numeracy 

Each fortnight a different grade will be in the SPOTLIGHT sharing Numeracy inside the classrooms! 

Welcome to Numeracy in Yr 5!

Year 5 students are currently focusing on fractions. The students have been comparing, ordering, and calculating with fractions, decimals, and percentages. While students compared fractions with denominators of 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10 and 12, they had to locate and represent them on a number line. Additionally, the student’s investigated and explained the relationship between the value of a unit fraction and its denominator. Moreover, the students selected and applied appropriate problem-solving strategies, including the use of digital technologies, in undertaking investigations.
