SMDP 50th Birthday Celebration

We were gifted with a beautiful sunny day for our 50th birthday celebration on Sunday the 6th of November.

It was a day of remembering, re-connecting and celebrating.

The Mass of Thanksgiving began the day and set the tone of joy and gratitude for the staff,  parents, grandparents, neighbours and friends – who sacrificed much to establish our school.

They were particularly worthy of our attention and prayers at this time. As witnesses to God’s love, they built our school, established social networks and shared resources to ensure their children grew up in the light of God’s love.

Many re-connected over a cup of tea in the rose garden or gathered around the stage to be entertained by the music and dance performances of our very talented students.

There were lots of 'wows' and 'amazing' being used by visitors to the art show "In the Blink of An Eye" where students' artistic talents were showcased.

Other visitors simply enjoyed wandering through a very different looking school and sharing stories and memories of days gone by.

Thank you to our current families who contributed their time and shared a warm welcome with visitors whether providing something tasty for morning tea or cooking the BBQ.

Thank you also to Paul and Leng for providing the sound equipment both in the church and for the stage performances throughout the day.

Comments from people who were connected to St Martin's a long time ago or who are currently connected were all similar in theme: there is something special and enduring about the St Martin De Porres Community.

We agree!
