School Improvement Team

IDEAS

Hello Mackellar Community, I hope you are all staying warm on these cold days. I’m here to tell you what we have been doing in the IDEAS School Management Team.

On Friday the 11th of November, the School Management Team had a visit from Dr Dorothy Andrews and Dr Joan Conway to continue our Mackellar journey of improvement.

During our visit, Joan and Dorothy delivered an amazing professional learning day for the team that assisted them in implementing our Schoolwide Pedagogy. A Schoolwide Pedagogy is a school’s expressions of its priority teaching, learning and assessment principles. These pedagogical principles have been created from the staff at Mackellar throughout the year. It was a long but exciting process. The school has finally agreed to these four principles that best describe what we do at Mackellar Primary School that empower our students to become global citizens. Our four pedagogical principles are;

BEE CONNECTED

BEE CURIOUS

BEE CREATIVE

BEE CHALLENGED

As you can see these pedagogical principles have the word “BE” spelt like the animal “BEE”. The reason we decided this was because it defines Mackellar as a school with our bee mascot.

After we created our pedagogical principles, we had to write down why these principles relate to our school vision and how do we implement them in our school using theorists to support our reasons. You can read them below.

The amount of work the staff at Mackellar have been doing to improve this school has been phenomenal. This work will continue to happen this year and the following year. Stay tune to the IDEAS page to find out more about our Mackellar journey of improvement.
