From the Deputy Principal

Megan Nertney

Hello everyone and welcome to another week in our fabulous school.

This week we had a beautiful worship organised by 2B. They reminded us that our hearts need to focus on experiencing that “treasure” that God gives us daily. At assembly this week 5B shared the wonderful work they have been doing this term in History, about the gold rush and the Eureka stockade. At the assembly we also farewelled Miss Valentine. Thank you, Miss Valentine, for all you have done for us at Living Waters over the past 12 years. We will miss you.

Science Week

Next week is National Science week. The theme this year is Glass: more than meets the eye. It celebrates the many roles that glass plays in our lives- from phone screens, to optical fiber, to glassware in labs - plus investigating glass as part of our sustainable future. To celebrate Science Week at Living Waters we will be running some rotation activities, beginning in the hall on Wednesday from 11 am - 1pm. You are most welcome to join us. Students will have an opportunity to create a marble run, a kaleidoscope, and a lava lamp. Through the week at lunchtime, we will be having other activities including making a terrarium. Thank you to all those parents who have donated items for our science week. We are still in need of more so if you have any small cardboard boxes, glass jars or small plastic bottles please send them to school.

School Values

This week we have been focusing on the High 5. This is a strategy used to help children to problem solve. We encourage them to use this to help build their social skills and resilience. The 5 steps are ignore, talk friendly, walk away, talk firmly and report to an adult.  Reporting an issue is important if you are trying to get help. It is important for children to report to an adult. Adults on the playground can be found wearing a yellow vest. Please encourage your children to follow these steps.

Father’s Day breakfast

POTS (Parents Organsing Terrific Stuff) are preparing breakfast on Friday 2nd September between 7.30am and 8.00am to say thank you to all our fathers for the wonderful things they do for us. If you are interested in attending the breakfast, please rsvp to living.waters@ntschools.net. POTS are always looking for more volunteers if you are interested in helping out, please come and see me. We are also holding a Father’s Day raffle and are looking for donations for prizes. Thank you to all of those who have already  generously donated something. Please ensure all donations are new or unused.
