From the Director of Sport & Co-curricular

Over the course of the last two weeks of term and the holidays we had several events, and some impressive achievements take place. This certainly demonstrates the excellent variety of talent that we have here at Kinross Wolaroi School. Congratulations must go to the following students and teams:

Swimming

Bianca Fuller 

Bianca won Gold at the NSW All Schools Swimming in 50m fly, 100m fly, 200m Breaststroke and 200m IM. She also won bronze in 100 Breaststroke. Bianca will now represent the school at the National All Schools event in Term 3.

Kyla Brown 

Kyla won Silver in the 50m Breaststroke and Bronze in the 100m & 200m Breaststroke. Kyla will now represent the school at the National All Schools event in Term 3.

Chess Team 

Congratulations to our Chess team who are through to the Western Schools Chess League final. The team played St Stanislaus' in the final. After Harrison Crisp lost board 1 the team rallied and managed to win the next two boards to seal the win. Well done to Ben Jones, Kasjan and Krishan Kandeepan. Good luck in the final.

Debating

Last term the KWS Opens 2 (Stephanie Wong, Ethan Shaw, Eleanor Armstrong, Maka Mutyiri) and the Senior KWS 2 team (George Hogg, Sala Orme-Smith, Annabelle Van Wyke, Ollie Krause)  debated in the preliminary finals in week 9.  They both debated Shell Harbor Anglican College. The Opens were defeated, so they are now out of the HICES Finals. The KWS 2 Seniors won their debate and will advance to the quarter finals. Goos luck to the Senior team in their next debate.

Congratulations

Josie Clarke

Congratulations to Josie who was selected in the U20 Girls National Touch Football Youth Squad. This is an excellent reward for all the hard work Josie has put into this season. We look forward to watching Josie play for Australia. 

Erica Stewart

Congratulations to Erica Stuart who represented Australia in polocrosse in a test series against New Zealand. Australia was the dominate team coming away with a win over the New Zealand team. 

Arnie Tancred

Congratulations to Arnie Tancred who was selected to represent NSW 2 Schoolboy Rugby Union Team. Arnie had a great tournament scoring a try in the first game against Queensland 1 to help NSW 2 to a win that ultimately set up a third-place finish for the NSW 2 team. 

George Proudford-Nalder

George won round 3 of the Southern Stars Series held at Orange Kart Club. This is a state level competition against highly skilled drivers aged 12-16. He races with DR Racing Karts Australia. Congratulations to George on this fantastic achievement.

Ski Trip

During week one of the holiday break, fifty students and five staff travelled to Thredbo for the annual KWS ski trip. Conditions were fantastic for skiing with every run open. The students involved in the trip were excellent ambassadors for our school and really thrived in the outdoor environment. Thank you to Trin Graham for organizing a wonderful experience for our students. 

Cadet Camp

During week one of the holiday break 94 cadets attended and completed the promotions camp. The leadership courses are a fantastic opportunity for the students involved in the cadet program to add to their skill set in a real-world environment. The cadet staff were impressed over the course of the promotions camp with the quality of the leadership displayed. We look forward to seeing the CUO’s in action with their platoons this term.

Central West Cricket Council Youth Team Trials 2022/23

Please note to be eligible for age groups it is the age you turn after the 31st August 2022. Example: If you turn 14 on 23 March 2023 you will be eligible for U/14's. You must also register and play in an association competition affiliated to the Central West Cricket Council.
