Rugby Report

Matt Tink, MIC Rugby

Our most recent ISA Competition games were held last Term against St Gregory's. Our boys travelled away and performed very well on the day. Results are below. The most pleasing part of the day was the way our boys came together at the end of the day to support the 1st XV. It was the most passionate and vocal I have seen our boys and the school spirit was amazing. Hopefully we can build on this and show our support for all our teams this Saturday against St Augustine's.

Whilst we were on a Rugby break, a number of boys were representing Kinross Wolaroi School Rugby in the ISA Teams. The boys selected were Arnie Tancred, Luke Dominello and Jake Chudleigh in the Opens and Clancy Lawler, Jack Tink and Jamie Anderson in the U16s. These boys competed in the NSW Schoolboys Championships and it was incredibly pleasing to see Arnie Tancred selected in the NSW Schoolboys team. This is an outstanding achievement by Arnie and one we are all very proud of. Congratulations also to the other KWS Rugby men on their ISA selection.

Next Tuesday 26 July we are planning on mixing training up a bit. Tuesday will be “ Wear Your Old Timer’s Jersey” to training. I encourage all our boys to go through their father’s, grand father’s, brother’s, neighbour’s or anybody else’s old rugby gear and bring out the best retro jersey they can find. I am expecting plenty of long sleeve cotton drill jerseys with collars and sewn on numbers. Whilst we will still be running proper training sessions and getting the boys to rip in, we will still be having a bit fun whilst doing it.

Looking forward to seeing a big crowd this Saturday.

KWS Giants Match Report 4 June, 2022

The KWS Giants defeated KWS Fever, played on-site at the KWS indoor courts. It was a blockbuster clash with fun had by all. The first quarter was a low-scoring 4 v 2 goals but having developed a feel for the Fever's strengths, the Giants adjusted their match strategy and were winning 20 v 10 by the end of the 3rd quarter. The scorecard indicated that the KWS Giants held onto a seven-goal win at the concluding whistle. All players were respectful and enthusiastic; pictured are both teams in a post-game huddle. Special mention to Sisilia Faiva who played her first match with the Giants this week.

Swimming

Over the school holidays the swimming team were hard at work in their preparations for a busy term 3 which includes the Senior & Junior NSW State Championships, Australian School Championships & Australian Short Course Championships.

Fresh off the back of some amazing team results at the Mountain & Plains Area Swimming, where the Kinross Swim Club had 7 age champions, the team hit the water in Sydney for the NSW Country Championships where the team finished 5th on the total medal tally.  Country championships provides a fantastic platform for swimmers to compete against some of the best swimmers in the state, practice/experiment with their race plans and gain comfort in the racing arena.  The coaching team is very keen to see the team step up their training and the team develop as they head into their State Championships.

Finally, the Kinross swimming team would like to extend their best wishes to Kyla Brown and Bianca Fuller as they prepare to represent NSW at the Australian School swimming Championships. Best of luck girls.

North West Equestrian Expo

Through the cold icy rain and the thick mud, our Kinross Wolaroi Equestrian Team plaited their horses’ manes and tails ready for the events ahead at the North West Equestrian Expo held at Coonabarabran. The expo is Australia's largest high school interschool equestrian event with over 500 horses and riders competing from Friday 3 June to Tuesday 7 June 2022. Kinross Wolaroi had a team of 34, some of whom slept in their floats or trucks to try their luck in all the events on offer. We are incredibly proud of our team as they exhibited aspects of our 5 core School values (Courage, Resilience, Inclusiveness, Respect and Commitment) as the weekend unfolded.
