Founders Day: Mass in Celebration of Brigidine College Randwick’s 120th Anniversary

On Friday 1 July, the College celebrated Founder’s Day with a Mass in Celebration of Brigidine College Randwick’s 120th Anniversary. Founder’s Day celebrates the legacy of our Founder, Daniel Delany, who, inspired by the wisdom of the Holy Spirit, saw fit to call young faith-filled women to minister as vessels of Christ to the wounded and weary. With the modicum, Fortiter et Suaviter; with strength and gentleness, Bishop Delany commissioned the Brigidine Sisters, who, like disciples, spread throughout the earth, brought the Good News of Christ to all they encountered.

We were incredibly lucky to welcome many dignitaries and special guests on this most auspicious day. We graciously welcomed many Brigidine Sisters, some of whom had taught, attended school, or led the College as Principal at Randwick. We welcomed Br Peter Ryan, the World Congregational Leader for the Patrician Brothers, who is deeply supportive of the Brigidine Community and is a driving force behind the Brigidine Bursary, supporting students in Kenya.

We are grateful to have also welcomed:

  • Glen Thompson, Specialist: Archdiocesan Liaison, Sydney Catholic Schools
  • Andrew Beiers, Deputy Principal Mission, Brigidine College Indooroopilly

Our Mass was celebrated by the Most Reverend Terry Brady, Auxiliary Bishop of Sydney and concelebrated by the priests of our feeder parishes. His Grace, Bishop Brady, has a long history with the Brigidines, particularly with family attending Brigidine College Randwick.

At this mass, the College received the Certificate of Recognition from Glen Thompson, on behalf of Sydney Catholic Schools, in appreciation of the College’s ongoing commitment to the domains of the Archbishop’s Charter for Catholic Schools.

The mass was a beautiful opportunity to celebrate our patroness and founder and, as a community, reaffirm our commitment to continuing the legacy of this incredible College.

Year 11 Retreat

Across weeks 8 and 9, Year 11 attended a Retreat at Benedict XVI at the foot of the Blue Mountains. At this incredible venue, the girls spent three days reflecting on their faith, their journey, and what the year ahead may bring.

I thank the girls for their incredible spirit and willingness to be vulnerable and open, during these three days. The students were witness to the retreat theme ‘One Body, Many Parts', evidenced in their care for those around them and their want to spend time with those whom they may not have known, as well.

This invaluable experience could not happen without an incredible team of teachers who, in the midst of the end-of-term madness, valued the importance of the Retreat and took this time away from their families and the College as well. Thank you!
